Position Overview

Our application engineers are key resources in providing technical support, product training as well as pre and post-sales assistance to our customers. You’ll work closely with customers, the marketing team, and the product development team to ensure that our software solutions meet customer needs and deliver high-value applications in real-world settings. This role requires a strong understanding of CNC processes and Vectric’s software products, along with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Support: Provide prompt and effective technical support to customers, including troubleshooting software issues, offering solutions, and guiding them through CNC project workflows.
  • Training and Onboarding: Conduct product training sessions for new customers, covering software features, best practices, and project optimization tips.
  • Documentation and Resources: Create and maintain user guides, FAQs, tutorials, and best practices documents to support customers and enhance product knowledge.
  • Product Demonstrations: Support the marketing team by providing live product demos and technical explanations as part of free projects, user group meetings and trade shows.
  • Feedback Loop: Gather and communicate customer feedback to the product development team, providing insights on software usability, feature requests, and CNC market trends.
  • Internal Beta Testing: Participate in testing of new software features, ensuring functionality, usability, and alignment with customer needs before public release.
  • Trade Show and Event Support: Represent Vectric at industry events and trade shows, offering hands-on demonstrations and assisting potential customers with software questions.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years in an Applications Engineering, Technical Support, or similar role, preferably within the CNC or CAD/CAM software industries.
  • CNC Knowledge: Strong understanding of CNC processes, machine setup, and basic manufacturing principles.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in CAD/CAM software; experience with Vectric products (e.g., VCarve, Aspire) is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with an aptitude for explaining technical concepts to customers of varying skill levels.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts and deliver engaging training sessions.
  • Customer Focus: Passionate about helping customers succeed, with a patient, supportive approach to teaching and technical support.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, and Product Development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the CNC, woodworking, or manufacturing industries.
  • Experience with conducting webinars, workshops, or live training sessions.
