Santa Stop Sign 12 Projects of Christmas

Todays project is a simple Santa Stop sign, that requires very little effort! All you need is some material, a 0.25” End Mill, some mask material and some spray paint.
We made it using 0.5” Ply Wood but you could use any flat material which will take paint. The files for this project are compatible with VCarve Pro 7.5 and Aspire 4.5.

I started off by drawing up the design in VCarve Pro which was pretty easy – all it required was two octagons, two holes for hanging, the text and the outline of a holly that I made for Vector Art 3D. We did spend some time on the spacing and text size to ensure a 0.25” End Mill would fit and the letters would be clear when cut. Preparing the material was very easy too as it was just a case of masking the part so that we could then spray paint it after the part was cut out in order to create the contrast just like the normal road signs. Having used the bare-ply surface for the mask we did see it peel a bit in some places so it might have benefitted from being painted or at least sealed to improve the adhesion.
The part was machined using a 0.25” End Mill and took around twenty minutes to cut all in all – which is great for those last minute decorations.
Once the machining was done I Sprayed the sign Red and after the paint was dry we removed the masking to reveal the finished part which looks pretty good! I added some white rope to hang the sign – and that was it!
