Tic-Tac-Toe X and O Game

Welcome to the Labs sessions! We love to make and share projects with our community and enjoy nothing more than providing you with FREE monthly CNC projects that you can download and cut for yourself!

Each project comes with its own video for you to watch telling the story of what we’re making from start to finish. It includes technical software footage, machining each part in the Labs and finishing the project, and as an added bonus, we throw in a few tips based on our experience! We would love to see what you turned this project into so download the files from your V&CO account then share what you’ve made on the Vectric Forum.

With Makers Central just around the corner and the summer on the horizon I thought why not make a massive X and O game that you can play with friends and family in the garden, at BBQs, on the beach or with lots of makers at a trade show!

The main requirements for the X and O game were it needed to be big, it had to be transportable (or how else would you get it to the beach) and it needed to be fairly robust for all the times it would be played and carted around to various places. Oh and the wood needed to be stuff we had lying around the labs and fairly accessible (due to it being a tight time frame), and what other makers would having lying around so they could make there own as well.

In this project I mainly focused on using dog bone fillets (with a twist), allowances, and sheets. With most slot together projects or things you can take apart fillets come in really handy; and when you are using fillets or slotting things together you will most definitely need to use some sort of allowance so the fit of the parts suits the functionality you want. The use of sheets came in really handy not only so I had a design sheet reference on hand, but also for all the different bits of material I used for the project and what was being cut on each one.

To find out some more about the project, pick up some CNC tips and see how this project came together you can check out the video. If you want to make your own X and O game why not download the project files, and you could even adapt or give the files an extra twist giving it your own stamp!

Hope you enjoy this project and happy making!
