I am an artist, maker and “upcyclist” which means I work pretty much exclusively with trash, used, reclaimed, salvaged and upcycled materials. I recently put aside a full-time career as a musician to pursue making things. I make a lot of instruments from reclaimed things and a lot of things from reclaimed instruments.
If you have seen my switchable guitar project you will know my original idea was to make a stripped down guitar body that had easily attachable “wings” so it could change shape quickly and easily. After messing around with this first, I started getting ideas to make really large and silly attachments, then it dawned on me that I could actually stack guitars together! I figured I’d add a bass guitar as that’s my main instrument, but the band wouldn’t be complete without drums, so I passed on making a ukulele for the top of the guitar (I may still do that in the future) and make a wooden “cajon” style drum instead.
The included files have all the geometry you need to make this. I always strongly recommend using reclaimed or locally sourced wood for every woodworking project. You’ll be surprised what you can used and growing in your area.
