Light Up Santa

Andy Bird Builds helps people make money with CNC, whether you’re doing it as a full-time job or a side hustle. Andy believes in empowering people by teaching them how to earn income using their skills and creativity. His mission is simple: to help you get paid for what matters most to you, whether that's making custom furniture, building toys for kids, or crafting jewellery.

In this episode of Make Something That Sells, I'm making this light-up Santa decor for Vectric's Holiday Make Off! Using two Santa graphics, I combined them to create a unique vector design with techniques learned from Vectric. After tracing outlines and smoothing lines for clean vectors, I set up toolpaths for pocketing and profiling. The project was machined from two 3/4" layers of pine, with LED lights added for a festive touch. Total material costs were $23 and in the video I share where, who, and how much I would sell this for. Of course, if you want to make this for yourself or a loved one that's completely possible too! Selling just 49 of these could pay off a $4,000 CNC machine! By leveraging social sharing, local connections, and online platforms, this project shows how creativity and strategic pricing can transform your CNC hobby into a profitable venture.
